Studies at the Academy of Fine Arłs in Cracow, Katowice Branch graduated in 1992.
Each TOTEMENHIR is my inner self-portrait- of mood, tension, moment, no matter whether I want it or not.I devote part of them to the specific persons, whose lives I also live. Art is the transformation of matter Matter fis my life which I transform finto pictures by thought, feeling and gesture 8.XI.1993 Sometimes I feel as if I were to puke up all my soul. I, thus, cut it, number and spit piece by piece. 30.VI.1996 “TOTEMENHIRS" It fis a smalt part from the cycle of works under the common title “TOTEMENHIRS". The above name fis a result of consolidating three words which are connected by the inseparable relationship of:
TOTEM - MEN - MENHIRS Creating a new world with universal meaning for me by means of which I briefly describe and characterize everything I create. I REMIND YOU: TOTEM - symbolic representation of the image of delty, subject of cult MEN - the English plural from man MENHIR - Neolithic stone grave monument dug in the ground, representing the figure of the dead Closing in the framework of one direction, trend or fashion fis selflimitation for me. I treat as universal every notion describing the particular stages of the historical development of art, the collection of which fis an evolutionary monolith. Abstraction - is a freedom Symbolism - is memory, the record of the atavistically primary meanings, events and their heroes Expressionism - is the cumulation of energy and feelings in the untied gesture Realism - hits in the devastated and degenerated environment. In the covered with white frost human trains from the laundry basket in the rusty surfaces of metals, in the cobblestone, in the trails of the chemical reactions of nuclear explosion, in a fairylike way glittering puddles of oil, greyness of concrete, rhythm of bricks and Windows, stairs, walk and streets. In the tangle of slants, arches and perpendicular lines. In the last asylum, magnificent unequalled nature, in the colour of butterflies' wings, scale, leaden sky with the line of horizon, monotonous greenness of the depth of the lake, rocked sculpted by water and wind, in the anatomical tangle of veins and roots, damp stones Erom the bottom of the rivers, brown ploughed field in each particie of the body, bark in the movement of waves, high tide and low tide, mineral glittering in a cobalt like way, pastel colour of shells, in the fantastic shapes of plants, in the light refracting on snow, in blood. All this has influence on me, whether I like it or not. Following the above remarks, the pictures presented above must be treated individually as well as understanding the thematic and representational tie connecting them as: cycle, collection, polyptych, consistent wholeness in which each work results from the previous one.
